Literacy & Data Coach

In August, 2013, I began my nineteenth year of teaching. Thirteen of those years were spent at William J. Clark Middle School, where I honed the craft of teaching academically gifted and talented students of the eighth grade. In 2008, I transitioned to teaching high school by accepting a position at my alma mater, North High School, where I served as department chair for the English Department, taught Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, British Literature, and American Literature, as well as public speaking/debate classes. In addition to teaching, I was and continue to serve as advisor to the National Honor Society and the senior class. I was voted North Middle/High School Teacher of the Year 2009-2010, and was recognized as a WLTX Golden Apple Award winner.

August, 2014, I was promoted to a district level administration position as the literacy coach for North Middle/High School. In 2015, my responsibilities widened as I became the AVID Site Coordinator for our school. In 2017, I assumed the role of Data Coach for our school.

This school year I will complete my twenty-third year in education. I am honored to serve the students, my fellow graduates, and my community at my alma mater.

Who am I? I am a 1982 graduate of North High School. I am from Livingston, SC, and currently reside in Neeses, SC. You could say I am a small-town girl. As a student of North High School, I was honored to be elected Miss Eagle 1982, Senior class president, Miss Junior, Miss Homecoming 1981, and Miss Sophomore. I was a member of the French club, and served as statistician for the Boys' Varsity Basketball team. I also drove school bus for two-and-one-half years. I grew up as a member of Turkey Branch Missionary Baptist Church where I served as Sunday School teacher (adult class), trustee chairperson, choir member, and in any capacity requiring assistance.

I now honor the true Sabbath, and am a member of Rehoboth Outreach Ministry, Orangeburg, SC.

My hobbies include traveling, reading, singing, event planning, and learning new cuisine.

I just celebrated twenty-five years as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

I am a single woman who loves big dogs and DIY-ing.
